Visionary Awards Presented to Auburn Health Strategies

Arlington, VA – The Foundation Fighting Blindness presented two awards to Auburn Health Strategies for its support of the Foundation and its efforts to raise research dollars through the Northern Virginia VisionWalk.  Auburn Health Strategies received the Walk Visionary Award 2006 and placed second in the business division for its fundraising efforts.  The Foundation’s Event Manager, Linda Gorusch, noted “Your extraordinary fundraising efforts are truly visionary.”

On June 3, 2006, the Auburn Health Strategies team walked in support of the fight against Retinitis Pigmentosa and other retinal degenerative diseases in the VisionWalk 5K in Reston, Virginia.  “Research efforts to find a cure for retinal degenerative diseases hold great promise,” noted Robin Stombler, President of Auburn Health Strategies, “We are proud to be a sponsor of the Foundation Fighting Blindness to help prevent vision loss and restore sight.”

Since the founding of the Foundation, over $240 million has been raised to fund leading-edge research in genetics, gene therapy, retinal cell transplantation, artificial retinal implants, and pharmaceutical and nutritional therapies into the cause, treatment and cures for retinal degenerative diseases.  Major scientific advances in understanding inherited retinal diseases that impact over nine million Americans have been enabled by the Foundation.
