Auburn Health Strategies President Moderates PCPC Science Symposium Panel

“Rules Under the Microscope” brought experts in microbiology standards and preservative efficacy to the first virtual Science Symposium hosted by the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC).  Moderated by Auburn Health Strategies President, Robin Stombler, the panel examined the processes and activities of standard-setting organizations influencing scientific methods.

Dr. Radhakrishna Tirumalai, Principal Scientific Liaison-General Chapters at USP; Thomas Hammack, Senior Policy Analyst for Microbiology at the FDA; and Dr. Jay Ansell, Vice President of Cosmetic Programs at the PCPC added keen insight on method validation and the impact of international standards on the microbiology field.

Smaranda Savarino, Senior Scientist at Edgewell Personal Care, and Lucile Manteau, Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs at Symrise AG, examined formulation and global challenges with preservatives, respectively, in the program’s second panel moderated by Dr. Zoey Zhang, Senior Scientist at Inolex.  Dr. Andress Johnson, Chair of the PCPC Microbiology Committee, rounded out the day’s learning with closing remarks.
